Recast Privacy Policy

Recast is a Chrome extension that captures the video or photo playing in your current tab, when you click Capture, and turns it into a text prompt for AI generation tools.

What we collect

• Captured media. Only after you click Capture, and only the active tab's playback or visible photo (cropped to the media itself). It is uploaded solely to produce the analysis and is deleted automatically after the retention window (one hour by default). We never store it long-term unless you opt in.
• Analysis and prompts. The structured description of the media and the generated prompt are stored so you can view your history. You can delete them at any time.
• Account data. Your email address and sign-in identifier (via Firebase Authentication), your plan, and usage counts.
• Your AI provider key. Stored encrypted and used only to run your own analyses. It is never shown again or shared.
• Payment. Handled entirely by Stripe. We store only your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, never card details.

What we do not do

• We do not record browsing activity, page contents, or anything outside the media you explicitly capture.
• We do not sell or share personal data with third parties beyond the processors named here (Firebase, Stripe, your chosen AI provider, our hosting provider).
• We do not use captured media to train models.

Your controls

Delete prompts from History, remove your AI key, revoke extension sessions, or cancel your subscription at any time from the extension. Delete account (Account → Delete account) removes everything immediately: subscription, captured media, analyses, prompts, usage records, AI keys and your login.
